SUNAINA + ARIN
{MEADOWLARK GARDEN ENGAGEMENT | VIRGINIA WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER}

I met up with Su and Arin at the Meadowlark Gardens last weekend and we were SO glad we didn’t go into DC in April to fight the Cherry Blossom crowds.  At around 6:45 pm, we pretty much had the garden to ourselves which resulted in such a relaxing and stress-free experience for the couple.  Which of course resulted in more organic and genuine photos.

I’ve known Su and Arin for many years now.  Su is a very close friend of my cousin’s but it wasn’t until we started planning for their wedding, that I got to really know them.  There’s a gazillion things I love about this couple but to name a few:

  • Their relationship started in middle school.  Who said 8th graders are too young to know what they want??
  • They are extremely funny as individuals but together, they can have their own show at the DC Improv.
  • They’ve had bumps on the road just like any other couple but they came out stronger than ever.
To say that I am excited for their wedding in July is an understatement!

I can never get enough of Weeping Willows, they make amazing portraits, don’t you think?

Between the photo above and the left photo below, Su was attacked by a tree with deadly pricks (ok, I’m exaggerating, they’re not deadly and Su is fine).  She was bleeding a bit but you could never tell by the right photo below, right?  :)  Pros, I tell you.

Hey, pretty girl…

This is my FAVORITE of the session, how gorgeous are they?  And Arin told me he wasn’t photogenic before we started the session…lies.

Something about a man kissing a woman’s hand.  So pure and so beautiful, why don’t guys greet like that anymore?

TIFFANY + JUSTIN
{RIVER FARM WEDDING | ALEXANDRIA VA WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER}

Tiffany and Justin shared a beautiful day surrounded by their friends and family, first at the Washington DC LDS Temple, and then at the River Farm in Alexandria.  This wedding was shot last month and kicked off my 2013 season; I know I’m a little late in blogging this but I was trying something different with my workflow for this year so it delayed my blogging a teeny bit.  I’m so excited to finally have their images on the blog!

Just a few days before the wedding, the DC area was hit with a snowstorm so for their wedding day to be a sunny 70 degrees, yeah it was an amazing little surprise for all of us!  And this sweet couple definitely deserved nothing short of perfect for their day.  When I went through my first cut of images for the blog, I picked out 140 images, no joke!  There were just that many favorites from the day.  But I knew that blogging that many images was crazy so here are my favorite favorites!

Tiffany and Justin, you two are so amazing to work with and even more amazing as a couple.  It was always a pleasure to chat and catch up  at our sessions and King wants me to tell you that he misses all the hugs and kisses you guys give him!

Special thanks to Krystle Correll for second shooting!

WINNIE + RAYNE
{OLD TOWNE ALEXANDRIA ENGAGEMENT | VIRGINIA WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER}

Sometimes things don’t work out the way you want them to…BUT sometimes they actually work out for the better! (a good mindset to have for your wedding day :)). That is exactly what happened with Rayne and Winnie’s engagement session.  We initially were thinking of doing the shoot at all of Winnie and Rayne’s favorite Old Towne Alexandria hangouts, Misha’s coffee, the The Thousand Villages shop, and some other places around the area.  But since it was nice out, everyone and I mean EVERYONE was in Old Towne.  Misha’s was packed, the only table we could find was next to the trash hallway.  So we had a change in plans, we still went to Misha’s later that evening, and the Village shop, but instead of trying to fight the crowds at all the other locations, we followed the beautiful light that day and ended up with some of my favorite engagement images EVER.

Winnie and Rayne, thank you for trusting me and allowing me to drag you all over Alexandria!

CHRISTINE + BRAD
{GEORGETOWN WATERFRONT ENGAGEMENT | VIRGINIA WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER}

I met Christine and Brad at the Sequoia restaurant in Georgetown for their engagement session.  I guess I haven’t been there in a while or never noticed, but they have floor to ceiling windows that lets an amazing amount of light in and these really cool chandeliers hanging off the ceiling.  So of course, we needed to take some photos there!

We started at the restaurant but slowly ventured out to the waterfront for some sunset photos.  That area is quickly becoming one of my favorite places to shoot (here’s another session I did at that location) and I’m SO happy with the images we were able to get.
